Wychcraft-Big-Band-at-Didsbury

Wychcraft Big Band was formed in 1998 to give members the opportunity to play big band music and help keep the big band sound alive by playing to the local community. Rehearsals were held in Middlewich so the Band was named after the salt towns of Middlewich, Northwich and Nantwich and uses “Witchcraft” as it’s signature tune.

Nowadays we rehearse every Monday at Allostock Village Hall from 7:30 to 10pm. There are seventeen members in a traditional big band line-up of saxes, trombones, trumpets and rhythm. The emphasis is on performing high quality jazz and having fun. Our repertoire ranges from Glenn Miller to Count Basie, from Miles Davies to Frank Sinatra: if it’s good music then we’ll play it!

We’ve played throughout Cheshire at a wide variety of locations, including concert halls, civic and village halls, golf and rugby clubs, marquees and open air venues. We’re happy to give concerts of Big Band Music, play for ballroom dancing or provide entertainment for functions such as festivals, charity events, wartime commemorations, dinner dances, birthdays or other social occasions.

If you’d like to book the Band please get in touch.  We will usually have between 15 and 22 players at an event, depending on the size of the venue and the occasion, and we have some terrific singers who never fail to entertain. We do our best to cater for the wishes of our audiences and are open to requests if they are made well in advance of an event.
